As if, I 'm back into Weimar & Dessau

Everyone knows that Bauhaus had theatre design lessons, but to my surprised that it was once such a systematic project in this school.
I've found this very interesting book in Boots library, it looks like very old (70's) with amazing book cover design and editorial design inside. Many of popular masters wrote the theatre design theory for this book.
I can find the insperitions from its well organized typoface and good stage photos, as to help me in my project, theatre poster design.

Handmade posters

Using computer softwares such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign will confuse my thinking of design a poster. Although they are very good in making lots of amazing visual effects on your compositions, the essential knowledge will be ignored during the design process because of your thinking must be multi-directioned.

So make the experiment by hand, the process will be purified and I can focus on the layot and colours of my compositions.

After these experiments as follows, Peter said I can go forward from this point and imagine the final Expo with the thinking of this.

Web Desgin workshop Ends

In my opinion, web design is a basic abillity to a graphic designer however, it is hard to a graphic designer without any training on it because of the large amount of programme language such as

Vbasic, html, JAVA etc needed. Not the same as Photoshop or InDesign, using the Dreamweaver will raise a lot of problems in graphic design process, It is not a "what you see what you get" software.


Except this, FTP technology is another problem to the designer. All these studies have to be done before making my final production (my website) and upload it to the Internet.

And it is really interesting.

About the layout of my poster - 1

the one adventage of Chinese characers is that you can write them by any directions

Chinese characters were designed to write vertically for thousands of years, but since 1949, the new China estabilshed, people began to write horizontally. So it is a very short history to write horizontally from left to right with chinese characters.

Globalisation(?) or go with the western countries, writing stucture had been changed. How to deal with the Chinese layout is a problem.

Especially in poster design, remain the Chinese characters' layout vertically, will gain much aesthetical pleasure from the audiences (just my experience). People will find that is the real Chinese text should be.

So, how about make Chinese and English in different directions in one poster and even different families of typographies in order to present a cultural difference and that will make the billingual poster more clear.
